What We Do

INTERFAITH INITIATIVES

This program has both internal and external focus.

  • JCRC-NY works with the wide variety of Jewish denominational organizations and the New York Board of Rabbis in order to effectively represent the Jewish community's own diverse religious and communal issues.
  • InterFaith Initiatives works as the local metropolitan New York partner with JCPA -  Jewish Council on Public Affairs on interfaith matters which involve, among other issues, Israel and Evangelical Christians.

  • It maintains important relationships with the many other religious organizations in the New York area and routinely interacts with Buddhist, Catholic, Hindu, Muslim, Protestant, Sikh and Yoruba representatives on a variety of issues.

  • After 9/11 many of JCRC-NY's senior staff served as volunteer chaplains at Ground Zero and the Family Assistance Center.  JCRC-NY and many other faith communities worked together to successfully found a first responder, multi-faith, chaplaincy organization.  Disaster Chaplaincy Services.
